Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) from July 1st 2024. With a vision for sustainable growth and renewed leadership, he is committed to leading PVEP in maintaining its position as the upstream arm of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam). 

For nearly four decades, PVEP has demonstrated resilience and innovation, overcoming numerous challenges to become a leading oil and gas enterprise. Its role in exploration and production remains critical to Petrovietnam’s core operations, contributing significantly to the nation's development.

Dr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam; Mr. Le Ngoc Son, President & CEO of Petrovietnam; and Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Permanent Deputy Party Secretary of Party Committee of Petrovietnam, presented the appointment decision and extended their congratulations to Mr Nguyen Thien Bao, PVEP’s newly appointed Chairman.

During the appointment ceremony, Petrovietnam Leaders Dr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam, Mr. Le Ngoc Son, President & CEO of Petrovietnam, and Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Permanent Deputy Party Secretary of Party Committee of PetroVietnam, presented the official decision and extended their heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao. As PVEP embarks on a long-term development phase, it will confront obstacles such as natural declines in production, technical challenges, and the ongoing global energy transition. The leadership of Petrovietnam and PVEP’s team have entrusted Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao to steer the company through these turbulent waters.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao pledged to leverage his expertise and foster unity within PVEP’s leadership and workforce, encapsulated in the spirit of "One team - One goal." His strategy includes refining strategic management, focusing on restructuring and business model shifts, and building a competent team aligned with the new structure. Additionally, he aims to innovate management practices, uphold core values, and rejuvenate corporate culture to fortify PVEP’s growth through effective governance.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao called on the entire PVEP team to unite, overcome challenges, and excel in their duties, striving for the common goal of a sustainably developing PVEP that continues to be a key unit of PetroVietnam.

Born in 1971 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His career in the oil and gas sector includes significant positions such as Vice Director of PetroVietnam Investment and Development Company (PIDC), Vice General Director of PVEP, Member of the Board of Members of PVEP, President & CEO of PetroVietnam Finance Corporation (PVFC), General Director of PVcomBank, Member of the Board of Directors of PVEP, Vice President & CFO of PVEP.

As of July 1st, 2024, Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao officially takes on his new responsibilities, equipped with experience and a forward-looking vision for PVEP’s sustainable future.
